The predicted salary is between 42000 - 60000 Β£ per year.

The Maxillofacial Unit offers experience in many aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Specialist interests include Head & Neck Oncology, Craniofacial Trauma, Facial Deformity and skin Cancer of the Head & Neck. There is a vast amount of skin cancer cases performed every year and we have a comprehensive, dedicated Skin MDT run with Dermatologists and Pathologists. In addition, there are links with the Tumour Board for Skin which takes place at the Royal London Hospital. The major Head & Neck surgery takes place at UCLH in central London.

Although the main purpose of this post is to provide service delivery, there will be a significant element of training in many aspects of OMFS to allow the candidate to prepare him or herself to enter the higher training in the speciality. The job plan will be tailored to align with the successful candidate's experience and to support their individual training needs.

The successful candidate will attend general and multidisciplinary clinics and undertake ward rounds on their own or with the Consultant on call as well as assisting in clinics. There are joint clinics with orthodontists, both paediatric and adults, and joint dermatologists clinics with the MOHS surgeon which the successful candidate will be encouraged to attend. In addition, there will be sufficient opportunity to get oral surgery experience in both the MOS and Theatre setting supervised by a Consultant or the specialty Doctor. There are weekly consultant theatre lists encompassing Salivary gland surgery, Facial Deformity, Craniofacial Trauma, Skin cancer and Oral Surgery, where the successful candidate will be allocated to assist.

Qualifications:

  • Essential criteria: GMC Registered Medical Practitioner, Demonstration of keeping up to date with knowledge, Evidence of training to date.
  • Desirable criteria: Previous experience in Oral Maxillofacial Unit, interest and/or experience in teaching, Excellent verbal and written communication.
