Overview

Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to recruit an experienced Named Nurse, Safeguarding Children, to join a well-established Safeguarding Team. This is a maximum 10 months fixed contract for maternity cover. The post holder will be instrumental in ensuring that there are effective safeguarding arrangements and practice for our most vulnerable children admitted under our care. The post involves providing excellent visible leadership, knowledge and expertise in relation to safeguarding of children, promoting good practice, while keeping children at the heart of all professional practice. You will work closely with multi‑agency partners and participate in initiatives to facilitate collaborative working.

If you are a Registered Children\\\’s Nurse, (Part 1 of the NMC Register), with a degree in a related subject and recently or currently working in a safeguarding children\\\’s post at band 8a, in an acute hospital setting, this is a good opportunity for you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safeguarding for children, ensuring visible leadership and expertise in relation to the safeguarding of children and promoting best practice.
  • Ensure effective safeguarding arrangements and practice for our most vulnerable children admitted under our care.
  • Collaborate with multi‑agency partners and participate in initiatives to facilitate collaborative working.

Qualifications

  • Registered Children\\\’s Nurse (Part 1 of the NMC Register) with a degree in a related subject.
  • Experience in a safeguarding children\\\’s post at band 8a in an acute hospital setting.
  • In depth knowledge of current safeguarding children legislation, guidance and practice.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated and highly experienced.
