Overview
Band 8a Lead Nurse, Learning Disabilities & Autism — Band 8a Lead Nurse, Learning Disabilities & Autism role at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. An exciting opportunity for an experienced and autonomous senior practitioner to join the Trust as the Lead Practitioner/Nurse for the Learning Disability & Autism Team. We are looking for a visionary and empathetic Practitioner/Nurse with a deep understanding of the complexities and challenges that people with learning disabilities and autistic people face in an acute hospital environment.
Applications are invited from Learning Disability Registered Nurses, Registered Mental Health Nurse, Registered Nurse, Midwife or AHP with a minimum of 2 years current experience in an acute hospital environment at Band 7 level, related to Learning Disabilities and Safeguarding. Responsibilities
- Improve the quality of care received by individuals with a learning disability and autistic people within the acute hospital setting.
- Act as a role model and clinical expert within the specialty of learning disability and autism nursing across all areas of the Trust.
- Support clinical staff in the management of care planning for patients.
- Provide leadership, strategic direction, and professional standards within the Learning Disability & Autism Team.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills; interact with professionals from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Contribute to delivering safe and equitable care and ensure the Trust\’s statutory responsibilities are met.
Qualifications/Experience
- Registered Nurse with current registration in Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, General Nursing, Midwifery or AHP with at least 2 years of current acute hospital experience related to Learning Disabilities and Safeguarding.
- Evidence of strong leadership, collaboration, and change-management capabilities.
