Overview

Band 7 Advanced Occupational Therapist Neuro Rotation at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. This rotational post provides experience across the stroke pathway and neurosciences, with opportunities to work on the Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit (HASU), Acute Stroke Unit (ASU), Rehabilitation Ward (Daisy) and Early Supported Discharge (ESD) community service. The Neurosciences rotation includes elective and acute conditions across wards, including acquired brain injury, TBI, neuro-oncology, acute neurology, spinal trauma and spinal cord injury.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinical care with responsibility for own caseload and assist/monitor the caseload of the team.
  • Perform highly advanced occupational therapy assessments for patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions; develop and deliver highly specialised treatment plans.
  • Develop a wide range of clinical skills across specialty areas including acute/sub-acute stroke, neuro-rehabilitation and Early Supported Discharge (ESD) community provision.
  • Utilise specialist cognitive assessments, upper-limb management and splint use, seating and tone management.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Experience in advanced occupational therapy practice, particularly in neurology or stroke pathways, is expected.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across acute, critical care, elective and community pathways.
