Band 6 Childrens Sister/Charge Nurse
Join to apply for the Band 6 Childrens Sister/Charge Nurse role at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
We provide acute care across a range of clinical specialties including oncology, haematology, respiratory, diabetes, endocrine, neurology and day surgery. We also offer a comprehensive children’s community nursing team, a Children’s and Young People’s Assessment Unit (CYPAU) with 9 beds, a Dahlia Ward with 8 beds, and a day unit (Tropical Bay) for oncology and haematology services. Our neonatal unit includes a 32‑cot level 2 NICU with a transitional care team and a community neonatal team supporting discharge home. In addition, we maintain a complex discharge coordinator, practice educators, and a children’s clinical decision unit (CCDU).
The post holder will act as a role model and provide leadership in the clinical area. Responsibilities include overseeing the assessment of care needs of children and young people, planning programmes of care, and implementing and evaluating these programmes without direct supervision. The role requires education and supervision of staff in coordination with the Children’s Clinical Nurse Educator, demonstrating advanced clinical specialist skills to deliver the highest standard of individualised evidence‑based, patient‑centred care. The successful candidate will take charge on each shift, supervise and coordinate other staff, and develop professionally for self and others.
