Barking & Dagenham College is seeking a dedicated Science Lecturer to join our Science Department on a full-time, permanent basis. Barking & Dagenham College of Further & Higher Education is a vibrant environment committed to the success of our learners, colleagues and community alike. Established in 1961, our college is comprised of three campuses across the Borough of Barking & Dagenham, supporting thousands of learners in their journey towards self-sufficiency. Based across our accessible campuses, including Rush Green, Barking & Dagenham College prepares young people and adults with the essential skills they need to progress into employment, apprenticeships or further study. Our Science provision plays a critical role in that journey.
The Role
- As a Science Lecturer, you’ll deliver engaging, inclusive teaching that supports learners to achieve and progress.
- You’ll contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement, ensuring provision remains responsive to learner and employer needs.
- Planning and delivering high-quality Science lessons, including schemes of work.
- Using effective, learner-centred assessment methods with constructive feedback.
- Tracking and supporting learner attendance, progress and achievement.
- Providing coaching and pastoral support to designated learners.
- Maintaining safe learning environments and promoting positive behaviours.
- Keeping up to date with developments in Science education and assessment.
- Participating in CPD and quality improvement activities.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from both qualified teachers and those aspiring to teach.
- Hold a Level 5 or higher teaching qualification with experience teaching in Further or Higher Education, or Hold a degree in a Science subject (Chemistry or Physics) and be willing to work towards a teaching qualification through our Passport to Teaching programme.
In addition, you’ll have:
- A learner-focused approach with strong communication skills.
- Good organisational and administrative skills.
- A commitment to equality, safeguarding and inclusive practice.
