Barking & Dagenham College has an exciting opportunity for a Careers Progression Team Leader to join our Student Welfare & Support Directorate.

You will join us on a full-time, 36 hpw, permanent contract and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £39,319 to £41,521 pa inclusive of London Weighting, dependent on qualifications and experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Director of Student Welfare & Support, the Careers Progression Team Leader will provide operational leadership and coordination of the College's Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) service, ensuring high-quality delivery of careers guidance, work-related learning and progression support.

The postholder will oversee the day-to-day operation of the careers service, ensuring students receive consistent, impartial and high-quality careers guidance, while supporting the College to meet statutory requirements and national benchmarks.

You will

• Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of the College's careers service, ensuring effective coverage, prioritisation and responsiveness




• Deliver high-quality, impartial one-to-one careers guidance interviews to students across all cohorts




• Support priority groups, including vulnerable learners, SEND students and those at risk of becoming NEET




• Lead and support delivery of the College's CEIAG programme, ensuring alignment with Gatsby Benchmarks and statutory guidance




• Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers, higher education providers and external partners to enhance progression opportunities




• Support and mentor Careers Progression Coaches and Careers Advisors, promoting high standards of professional practice




• Monitor service quality, student destinations and progression outcomes, supporting continuous improvement and compliance requirements




• Coordinate careers fairs, employer engagement activities and progression events to enhance the student experience

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a passionate and committed individual, who understands the transformational impact of Further Education.

You should have:

• Minimum Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance & Development




• English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 or above

In addition, you will demonstrate:

• Experience delivering careers guidance/IAG in an education or similar environment




• Experience coordinating or supporting a careers, employability or progression service




• Experience working with employers, higher education providers and external stakeholders




• Knowledge and understanding of CEIAG frameworks, Gatsby Benchmarks and statutory guidance




• Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills




• Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to changing operational demands




• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion




• Experience of supporting young people from diverse backgrounds to achieve positive progression outcomes
