We have some exciting opportunities available at Barking and Dagenham College. We are looking for Learning Support Practitioner (LSP) to join our Mainstream ALS team.

You will join us on a part-time, term-time only basis. Applicants must be able to commit to 28 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday each week.

In return, we will offer a competitive salary of Β£20,322 – Β£22,487 pa inc London Weighting. This has been pro rata\’d to 28hpw, 38 weeks per year.

Please be advised that the salary will be pro rata\’d to agreed hours per week, 38 weeks per year.

The Learning Support Practitioners role:

Toprovide 1:1, shared in class and group support to SEN learners within the mainstream college. The LSP will deliver support to learners with SEMH, dyslexia, autism, ADHD and speech and language needs

Key Responsibilities of our Learning Support Practitioners:

  • To work under the supervision and guidance of the tutor with students with mild/moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities within the Horizons or Mainstream area.
  • To provide one-to-one support and group support, both direct and indirect, for students with learning difficulties and disabilities following foundation courses, primarily in the learning environment.
  • To work with the Student Support Advisors and Youth Worker to provide support for students with SEMH needs and to encourage such students to attend the College
  • To use learning support systems to ensure bespoke support is provided for individual supported learners

Our ideal Learning Support Practitioners should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A level 2 or above qualification or equivalent in relevant subject area.
  • Experience of providing effective coaching for students on an individual basis or in a group setting to support success and progression.
  • Demonstrate an ability to support, monitor and track the learner progress including attendance, behavior, and completion of vocational activity.
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Level 2 English & Maths or equivalent is desirable
