This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary of £55,566 to £69,566 per annum, including London Weighting.
Role Overview: The Head of Department (HoD) is responsible for the growth and performance of the designated department(s), including teaching, learning, assessment practices, and business planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Faculty Director for English & Maths and Adult Skills to focus on strategic growth, operational development, and continuous improvement, ensuring the curriculum aligns with industry trends, LMI, and reforms.
- Develop a curriculum that meets local needs and aligns with the College's vision, liaising with external partners to maximize opportunities.
- Enhance quality assurance processes related to key performance indicators, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards, and promote best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Ensure curriculum leaders are accountable for compliance and foster a performance management culture.
- Drive cultural change by embodying college values, empowering staff, and implementing effective performance and development frameworks.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Experience in leading quality cycles, including teaching observations, performance monitoring, audits, and OFSTED readiness.
- Support in self-assessment processes, developing high-quality evaluations, and overseeing SARs and QIPs.
- Promote a performance-focused approach to improve attendance, retention, achievement, and KPIs.
- Lead curriculum planning to meet income targets.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience managing in the Adult Education or Further Education sector.
- Knowledge of frameworks like Ofsted and awarding bodies.
- Ability to plan provision aligned with local and external needs.
- Proven track record of leading performance improvements and enhancing teaching and learning.
- Strong leadership, motivation, and analytical skills.
