Our public sector client based in Stowmarket, Suffolk is currently seeking an experienced HGV Refuse Collection Driver to join their team as soon as possible! This will be a temporary opportunity, working ongoing until further notice. There is also the opportunity to gain a contract after 12 weeks depending on performance. The hours of work will be 6:30am-3pm Monday to Friday with a pay rate of £15.52 per hour.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Carry out refuse and recycling collections daily, with skills and knowledge of all machinery aspects of the job
  • Undertake all duties in a professional manner deploying safe lifting and handling techniques appropriate to articles left for removal
  • Use in-cab technology and mobile devices as directed
  • Complete relevant paperwork in real time
  • Carry out daily inspections and reporting for machinery and vehicles, before and after use
  • Ensure the cleanliness of machinery and vehicles
  • Maintain excellent customer and client relations, particularly with members of the public and other motor users

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Valid HGV Class 2 driving licence (with no more than 6 points)
  • Driver CPC Card (TACO)
  • Driver Qualification Card
  • DVLA Check
  • Willingness to help with refuse loading while on your rounds to enable your team to complete the route within the service level agreement
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Willingness to undertake tasks
  • Clean drivers licence desirable for all staff
