The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, energetic and results-driven National Engineering Manager to join a financially strong, international and growing market leader.

This is a high-impact senior leadership role for an experienced engineering professional and subject matter expert who can raise the standard of engineering and maintenance across a large multi-site operation and make a measurable contribution to productivity, capacity and business growth.

You will work closely with site and senior leadership teams, providing technical expertise, challenging existing practices and influencing investment and operational decisions.

The successful candidate will be highly visible across the estate, travelling extensively throughout the UK and Ireland to understand site challenges, implement improvements and ensure engineering initiatives deliver tangible results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Leadership & Performance
  • Provide national engineering and maintenance leadership across multiple UK and Ireland sites.
  • Drive continuous improvement in maintenance standards, systems, reliability and asset performance.
  • Support the implementation and development of the TOM CMMS, Golden Rules of Maintenance and maintenance maturity programmes.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to sites experiencing significant equipment or maintenance issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime and maximise production capacity.
  • Share best practice and ensure successful improvements are implemented across the wider estate.
  • Senior Stakeholder Influence
  • Act as a trusted engineering advisor to senior site and business leaders.
  • Build strong relationships across Engineering, Production, Operations, Finance, Health & Safety and Projects.
  • Influence and challenge senior stakeholders using data, technical expertise and clear commercial reasoning.
  • Demonstrate how engineering interventions can improve productivity, capacity, cost and overall business performance.
  • Lead and support national and regional engineering improvement initiatives.
  • CAPEX, Projects & Suppliers
  • Provide data-driven engineering input into CAPEX and investment decisions.
  • Identify technologies and projects that improve reliability, capacity and operational efficiency.
  • Support engineering and maintenance projects through to successful implementation and benefits realisation.
  • Manage performance reviews with key engineering and maintenance suppliers.
  • People, Safety & Continuous Improvement
  • Promote high standards of Health & Safety, engineering compliance and operational discipline.
  • Support sites in developing engineering capability, people and performance.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring equipment and maintenance issues.
  • Use KPIs and maintenance maturity assessments to identify priorities and drive measurable improvement.
  • Ensure improvements become embedded and best practice is shared across the organisation.

Experience & Skills

  • Relevant ONC/HNC or higher engineering qualification, ideally Electrical or Mechanical.
  • Significant engineering/maintenance leadership experience within a production, manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven experience improving equipment reliability, productivity, capacity and downtime.
  • Strong understanding of planned maintenance, CMMS and asset management.
  • Experience with CAPEX, engineering projects, budgets and supplier management.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the relationship between engineering, production, people, safety and financial performance.
  • Excellent analytical and IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel; Power BI experience desirable.
  • Strong leadership, communication, influencing and project management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake significant travel across the UK and Ireland.
