A leading UK contract packing and manufacturing business, supporting many of the best known food brands, is seeking a Shift Engineer to join the team at its Crick site. The company delivers innovative and cost effective co-packing, co-filling and co-manufacturing solutions tailored to client needs.
The Role
You will support the smooth day to day running of the technical function, ensuring company quality standards are consistently met. This position requires a practical, hands on engineer who can work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team, while communicating clearly across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support production by providing practical engineering solutions
- Monitor all machinery and ancillary plant
- Follow preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules
- Carry out repairs during production
- Complete planned maintenance activities
- Conduct inspections outside production hours, including occasional weekend overtime to meet business needs
- Restore machines and site equipment to required standards
- Perform changeovers when required
- Identify opportunities to improve machine performance
- Assist with colleague training and development
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe working practices
- Take ownership of personal development through training and practical experience
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role when required
About You
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment is advantageous
- A completed engineering apprenticeship is desirable, ideally with packing line experience
- Basic computer literacy
- Confident communicator with the ability to motivate others
- Strong understanding of internal systems and processes
- Sound knowledge of health and safety requirements
- Self motivated, results focused and able to meet deadlines
- Flexible approach with willingness to work overtime during busy periods
