Barker Ross is currently recruiting for a Waste Operative for our client specialising in recycling waste streams for individual clients. This is a temporary ongoing position with the potential to join the company following a successful probation period.

The main purpose of the Waste Operative is to work in conjunction with Site Management to safely deliver throughput of waste in the Transfer Station and be responsible for contributing to waste management, processes, and standards on site.

The Job Summary:

  • Recycling Waste Operator to ensure waste streams are collected and segregated correctly. These can consist of metals, cardboard, wood, general waste and hazardous (oils, batteries etc.)
  • Working with all site staff assisting with the smooth operation of client site
  • Provide client with innovations and waste segregation best practice.
  • Provide Health and safety support whilst on site, ensuring site adheres to H&S, EA and other regulatory body's policy and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day site operations and waste requirements
  • Ensure all waste streams are segregated and stored correctly after processing in accordance with site health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Following advice and instructions given by Supervisor
  • Ensure you are a role model for other employees - conduct and behaviour.
  • Undertake any training provided to assist you in your role.
  • Support other staff and provide guidance where needed.
  • Encourage a positive work environment and culture for all employees.

To be successful you will need:

  • To be aware that the working areas are often out in all-weather terrain (full PPE issued), often sorting and processing waste revenue streams outdoors.
  • Own transport needed.
