Job Purpose
To safely and efficiently operate a counterbalance forklift truck to handle, move, load, and store glass bottles and other fragile products within the warehouse and production environment, ensuring all goods are handled with care and in line with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a counterbalance FLT safely and competently at all times
- Load and unload glass bottles and fragile products from vehicles, racking, and production lines
- Transport goods within the warehouse and production areas, ensuring stability and minimal risk of damage
- Stack, store, and retrieve products accurately according to location plans and instructions
- Conduct daily FLT checks and report any defects or maintenance issues immediately
- Ensure all goods are handled in accordance with fragile handling procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
- Follow all health & safety, site rules, and risk assessments
- Assist with stock control, pallet checks, and general warehouse duties as required
- Work closely with warehouse, production, and quality teams to meet operational targets
- Accurately complete paperwork or electronic records related to goods movements
Skills & Experience Required
- Valid FLT Counterbalance licence (RTITB / ITSSAR or equivalent)
- Picking Experience
- Proven experience operating a counterbalance FLT in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
- Experience handling fragile, high-value, or breakable products (essential)
- Strong awareness of health & safety practices
- Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Desirable Skills
- Experience within the glass, packaging, or FMCG industry
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Experience working in production-supported warehouse environments
