A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Weft Knitter / Weft Mechanic to join a very well-established and successful business which is a market leader in its field and one of the fastest growing in high performance technical textiles manufacturing. The business supports a number of key market sectors with a global export market, and there is now an immediate opening to join the friendly on a full-time permanent basis at their North Leicestershire site. The position is Mon to Fri, working 6am to 2pm and 10am to 6pm on a weekly rotating basis.
In essence the job responsibilities include:
Monitoring fabric quality throughout the knitting process, checking for faults, marks or any inconsistencies.
Repairing yarn faults, replacing any broken elements and addressing minor machine issues.
Threading and changing bobbins as required to maintain continuous production.
Assisting with quality changes, including changes of pattern and machine adjustments.
Taking completed fabric rolls off the machine ready for the next process.
Adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
Ensuring the workplace is left safe and tidy.
The preferred skills, education and knowledge include:
General standard of education in both numeracy and literacy.
Previous experience and knowledge of weft knitting machines, particularly double jersey style machines. Some mechanical knowledge would be ideal also.
Be able to work well as part of a small team in an evolving production environment and adapt quickly to any production requirements which may alter.
Good communication skills with the ability to work on your own initiative and collaboratively as part of a team.
