Barker Ross is currently recruiting on behalf of their large Coldstore for a Shift Operations Manager on their Night shift working 4 on 4 off 18:30 - 06:30. This is a temporary contract to cover long term sickness.
As a key member of the management team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the warehouse operation. The role ensures the site operates efficiently and safely, meets budgetary requirements, and delivers the highest possible level of service to both internal and external customers. You will plan and manage site resources, lead and motivate the team to achieve individual and business objectives, and communicate effectively with all stakeholders to support operational success.
Duties:
- Plan and utilise resources effectively to meet operational demands, monitoring and addressing absence and performance issues.
- Manage the warehouse operation to meet and exceed customer requirements, driving continuous performance improvement.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on KPIs, ensuring the team remains focused on delivering high service levels.
- Report operational results, developments, and risks or potential issues to the Operations Manager.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across the operation.
- Provide clear, consistent, and timely communication on operational status within the warehouse.
- Plan, manage, and deliver projects in line with expectations set by the senior leadership team.
- Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all staff and visitors by following maintenance programmes, safety procedures, and legal requirements.
- Protect the integrity and security of the operation, including access to stock, work areas, equipment, and warehouse systems.
- Ensure all administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time to support the smooth running of the site.
- Take an active role in personal performance development.
- Manage Material Handling Equipment (MHE), ensuring servicing is completed and appropriate equipment is available to support operations.
