Barker Ross is recruiting an Irrigation Engineer to join a growing and well-established agricultural engineering business. This is a hands-on role suited to a mechanically minded engineer who enjoys working with new machinery and supporting customers during critical seasonal periods.

The Role

  • You will be responsible for the assembly, inspection, servicing, and repair of irrigation equipment including hose reels, pumps, and booms.
  • The role is primarily workshop-based, with occasional UK travel to customer sites for servicing and breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new equipment
  • Assemble machinery to customer specifications
  • Service, maintain, and repair irrigation equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults
  • Attend customer sites across the UK when required
  • Complete service and inspection records accurately

What We're Looking For

  • Background as an Agricultural Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Plant Fitter, or similar
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience
  • Proven ability to service and repair machinery or equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Proactive approach with strong attention to detail
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Experience with irrigation or agricultural machinery
  • Basic electrical fault-finding
  • Welding or fabrication experience
  • Understanding of basic hydraulic systems
  • Forklift licence

Working Hours

Monday-Thursday: 08:00-17:00
Friday: 08:00-16:30
42 hours per week
Overtime available
On-call rota required
