Mechanical Engineer / Fitter
Location: Low Marnham
Salary: £42,000 to £50,000 plus overtime
A well-established UK manufacturing business operating in the sustainable processing and production sector is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer/Fitter to join its site engineering team. The company plays a key role in converting raw materials into valuable products used across multiple essential industries, offering long term stability and ongoing investment in plant and people.
This is an opportunity to work in a fast paced production environment where engineering excellence directly supports operational performance and continuous improvement.
The Role: You will work closely with production teams to maximise the utilisation and reliability of site assets while maintaining safe and efficient operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting production to ensure maximum effectiveness of site equipment
Carrying out planned maintenance in line with the CMMS system Holistech
Fault finding and repair of mechanical plant and equipment
Contributing to the development of new manufacturing methods and continuous improvement initiatives
Driving energy and utilities improvements while meeting changing production demands
Working cross functionally to deliver a consistent approach to site improvement
Ensuring all work complies with Standard Operating Procedures
Completing all relevant statutory and maintenance documentation
Helping maintain plant, buildings and infrastructure in line with current health, safety, environmental and equipment legislation
About You: You are a practical and motivated engineer who enjoys problem solving in a manufacturing setting.
You will ideally have:
Apprentice training to a minimum Level 2 such as C and G or EAL NVQ, or strong mechanical experience with a clear interest in the trade
A mechanical engineering background with hands on experience
Experience within manufacturing or process environments, including planned preventative maintenance
Strong fault finding skills
A good understanding of health and safety responsibilities
Clear communication skills, written and verbal
The ability to work independently or as part of a team
A proactive attitude and willingness to support colleagues
Openness to further development through structured training
Eligibility to work in the UK
Shifts
4 on 4 off rotation covering days and nights
Average of 43 hours per week
