Our client is one of the fastest growing providers of cold chain logistics and temperature-controlled supply chain solutions, based in Leeming Bar, North Allerton. Due to growth, an exciting opportunity for a POD Operator has become available, to join the company on a full time, temporary to permanent basis.

The hours are based on 40 over a Monday to Friday week on a rotating shift pattern. The shifts are 6am to 2pm/2pm to 10pm/10pm to 6am. Overtime will be required but not guaranteed each week and paid at time & 1/2.

The main purpose of the role is to oversee the fully automated freezing and loading process that transfers deep frozen product directly from the production line at our customer's site into a double deck trailer. The process keeps each pallet within a controlled temperature range of minus 22 to minus 25 degrees throughout, ensuring no exposure to ambient conditions and removing the need for manual handling. This safeguards product temperature integrity and significantly reduces the risk of damage throughout the loading cycle.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor the CCTV system to ensure loading accuracy and safe flow of product.
  • Complete routine housekeeping and basic maintenance on the pod including lubrication of chains, checking chain tension and removing debris.
  • Liaise with factory colleagues and the transport team to align on production flow and pallets per hour.
  • Use the Goods Location Administration system to monitor faults, access product data and verify load details including time loaded, product codes and weights.
  • Operate the automated double deck trailer loading sequence using the six-button control panel.
  • Check cooling unit temperatures to confirm the pod is at the correct operating temperature for loading (minus 22 degrees).
  • Highlight issues to the engineering management team when escalation is required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties in line with the needs of the operation.

About the ideal candidate:

  • Comfortable working independently, with the role being remote from the main client team but based at a customer's site.
  • Strong IT capability and confidence using automated systems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable with a proactive approach.
  • Ability to work in sub-zero temperatures.
