Barker Ross is recruiting an Irrigation Engineer to join a growing and well-established agricultural engineering business. This is a hands-on role suited to a mechanically minded engineer who enjoys working with new machinery and supporting customers during critical seasonal periods.
The Role
- You will be responsible for the assembly, inspection, servicing, and repair of irrigation equipment including hose reels, pumps, and booms.
- The role is primarily workshop-based, with occasional UK travel to customer sites for servicing and breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new equipment
- Assemble machinery to customer specifications
- Service, maintain, and repair irrigation equipment
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults
- Attend customer sites across the UK when required
- Complete service and inspection records accurately
What We're Looking For
- Background as an Agricultural Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Plant Fitter, or similar
- Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience
- Proven ability to service and repair machinery or equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Proactive approach with strong attention to detail
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience with irrigation or agricultural machinery
- Basic electrical fault-finding
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Understanding of basic hydraulic systems
- Forklift licence
Working Hours
- Monday-Thursday: 08:00-17:00
- Friday: 08:00-16:30
- 42 hours per week
- Overtime available
- On-call rota required
