New Business Underwriter
Barker Munro Recruitment is working with a leading insurer expanding its Manchester branch. We’re seeking a Property & Casualty Underwriter to drive new business growth across Mid Market and Mid Corporate risks.
You’ll play a key role in shaping the branch’s success—building broker relationships, leading large case management, and underwriting profitable new business while supporting and influencing the wider underwriting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the business on larger, complex Mid Market and Mid Corporate risks.
- Negotiate coverage, wordings and pricing alongside Trading Underwriters.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of quality new business opportunities.
- Lead the large case process and act as a referral point for the team.
- Develop strong broker relationships and deliver a clear distribution strategy.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong commercial underwriting expertise.
- Knowledge of the Manchester insurance market.
- Confident decision making across varied technical scenarios.
- Coaching, development and team influencing experience.
- Excellent trading, negotiation and relationship building skills.
- Strong analytical and risk assessment capability.
Working Pattern
Hybrid working with around three days per week in the Manchester office, plus broker visits and industry events.
