After having a great start to the relaunch of The New Inn, Park Bottom, we are looking to expand our team meaning we are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our family. We are due to go through an extensive refurbishment and extension in the kitchen and will be looking for the ideal candidate who will play a pivotal role in the kitchen, assisting the Company Owners in food preparation and production while ensuring that our high standards of quality and hospitality are consistently met. This position requires strong leadership abilities, excellent culinary skills and a commitment to fostering a collaborative kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef but also be able to uphold the Head Chef position in planning and directing food preparation and production activities.
- Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring that all team members are trained in food safety and hygiene practices.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with menu specifications.
- Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies and minimising waste.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new recipes and menu items.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Help resolve any issues that arise during service, ensuring smooth operations.
- Foster a positive work environment by encouraging teamwork and communication among staff.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Head or Sous Chef or in a similar culinary role within a hospitality setting.
- Strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food production processes.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in supervising kitchen staff.
- Excellent organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- A passion for culinary arts and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
