Barker Associates is an award‑winning, employee‑owned, multi‑disciplinary property consultancy providing Architecture and Design, Project Management, Surveying, Engineering and Energy and Sustainability services across the UK. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to develop a career working on a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK, based either at our Braintree or Birmingham offices. The role may be eligible for hybrid working.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver mechanical engineering solutions across projects from concept to completion
  • Carry out condition and technical surveys of existing buildings and produce clear reports
  • Prepare mechanical calculations, designs, drawings and specifications
  • Produce documentation and drawings for tender stages and assist in tender evaluations
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure coordinated design delivery

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Relevant industry experience in building services / mechanical design
  • Working towards or desire to achieve professional accreditation (e.g. CIBSE, IMechE or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with BIM/Revit and IES
  • Full clean driving licence with access to your own vehicle; subject to a DBS Enhanced check

Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
