Barker Associates is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary property consultancy and trusted advisor, offering Architecture and Design, Project Management, Surveying, Engineering, and Energy and Sustainability services to a wide variety of clients in the UK. We currently have a vacancy open for a Building Surveyor who is looking to develop their career, working on a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the UK. This role will be based at our Birmingham office, subject to business requirements the role may be eligible for hybrid working.

As a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for the delivery of building surveying services for a range of projects. You will be providing technical expertise, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams, whilst ensuring compliance within all relevant design standards and regulations.

Key Areas of Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Assisting with conducting building condition surveys and producing clear, insightful reports for clients.
  • Supporting the preparation of tender documentation – including drawings, specifications, and schedules of work.
  • Assisting with tender submissions, contractor analysis, and the drafting of JCT construction contracts.
  • Taking part in pre-contract briefings and ensuring smooth project handovers with the team.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to monitor quality, progress, and health & safety compliance.
  • Attending client and project meetings, representing the business with professionalism and technical confidence.
  • Travelling to sites and client locations as required.

Requirements:

  • A relevant degree or strong working experience.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD.
  • Working towards or hoping to achieve RICS Chartership.
  • License to use drones on construction sites (Desirable).
  • CSCS Card (Desirable).

This role requires you to have a full clean driving licence with access to your own vehicle, and will be subject to a DBS Enhanced check.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm (finishing at 4:30 on Friday!)
