Barker Associates is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary property consultancy and trusted advisor, offering Architecture and Design, Project Management, Surveying, Engineering, and Energy and Sustainability services to a wide variety of clients in the UK. We are actively recruiting for Building Surveyors at Apprentice level who are looking to develop their career, working on a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the UK. This role will be based at one of our Braintree, Cambridge or Birmingham offices, subject to business requirements the role may be eligible for hybrid working.
As an Assistant Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for assisting the delivery of building surveying services for a range of projects. You will be providing technical expertise, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams, whilst ensuring compliance within all relevant design standards and regulations.
Responsibilities:- Assisting with building condition surveys and producing clear, insightful reports for clients.
- Supporting the preparation of tender documentation β including drawings, specifications, and schedules of work.
- Assisting with tender submissions, contractor analysis, and the drafting / raising of JCT construction contracts.
- Taking part in and attending pre-contract briefings and ensuring smooth project handovers with the team.
- Carrying out regular site inspections to monitor quality, progress, and health & safety compliance.
- Inputting fee projections for financial profiling across various projects.
- Attending client and project meetings, representing the business with professionalism and technical confidence.
- Travelling to sites and client locations as required.
- A-Level qualifications in line with UCAS requirements (or predicted).
- An interest in Building Surveying.
- This role requires you to have a full clean driving licence with access to your own vehicle, and will be subject to a DBS Enhanced check.
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
Holiday: 25 days (pro-rataβd) plus bank holidays.
