The Role
We are looking for an experienced Cafe All Rounder to join us as we take the cafe forward. This is a hands-on role covering coffee, food preparation, customer service, stock management and contributing ideas to help the business grow. You will be trusted to take ownership of your shift and may occasionally work solo, so maturity and confidence are essential. This is not just a job behind the counter. We want someone who cares about building community, improving the shop and helping us make Baristocats even better.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and serving high quality coffees and hot drinks
- Making fresh food to order, including sandwiches, paninis and jacket potatoes
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness
- Managing stock levels and communicating when orders are required
- Opening and closing the cafe when required
- Providing warm, patient and professional customer service at all times
- Supporting and helping organise community events hosted in the cafe
- Suggesting ideas to improve the cafe, increase sales and strengthen our community presence
- Assisting with simple marketing content such as photos, short videos or social media ideas
- Being flexible with working hours, including weekends and occasional events
About You
- You have previous hospitality experience
- You have barista experience and can work confidently on a machine
- You have experience preparing fresh food in a cafe, deli or similar environment
- You are calm, patient and emotionally intelligent
- You understand that some members of our community may be facing personal challenges and you treat everyone with dignity and respect
- You are reliable, mature and capable of working independently
- You take pride in keeping your workspace clean and organised
- You enjoy being proactive and bringing new ideas to the table
- You are flexible with your availability and willing to support events and community initiatives
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a small team environment and wants to help shape a cafe that genuinely cares about its customers and its local community.
