The Strategic Delivery team at Barings is seeking an experienced project manager to join its team. This position will be in the Barings' London Office or Charlotte NC. As a project manager within the Strategic Delivery team, this individual will be responsible for leading various activities along the strategic project life cycle including scoping, planning/design, execution, testing, delivery and closing. The candidate will need to oversee the successful delivery of strategic initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements. The ideal candidate will bring both project management expertise and deep knowledge of fund accounting to ensure alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder expectations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assists the business with defining the scope and milestones of projects to ensure timely delivery.
- Project Planning & Execution:
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
- Manage project resources, risks, and dependencies effectively.
- Lead cross-functional teams, including fund accountants, technology teams, and compliance staff.
- Provide clear direction and resolve conflicts to keep the project on track.
- Foster collaboration and accountability among team members.
- Support system implementation projects, including fund accounting software upgrades or migrations.
- Ensure systems are configured to meet accounting, compliance, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Three/Four-year college/university degree in accounting, finance or related business field.
- 4+ years of project management experience including the management of large scale projects.
- Strong understanding of fund accounting principles, including NAV calculation, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- PMP Certification (preferred not essential) or other industry qualification.
- Experience managing a range of technology projects.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
- Deep Experience of Agile methodologies, i.e., Scrum, Kanban.
- Experience with Microsoft products and industry standard delivery tools: Office (Clarity, Project Management tools like Smartsheet, HP Quality Center or other testing products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Azure Dev Ops).
Additional Desired Qualifications
- CFA, CAIA, CPA, or other financial services designation preferred.
- Previous experience within a program management, strategic change office, or consulting organisation.
- PMI/Prince 2 or Agile certification preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft AzDo Boards.
