Barings’ Private Credit team is seeking a Client Portfolio Manager. This position will ideally be located in London and will report to the Managing Director, Client Portfolio Management – Private Credit.
Primary Responsibilities- Take a junior Client Portfolio Management role within our European Private Credit business which includes the following investment strategies: Direct Lending, Portfolio Finance, Infrastructure Debt, Asset Backed Finance, Private Placements and Multi Private Credit Solutions.
- Serving as a supporting business development liaison for Barings’ European Private Credit Capabilities.
- Support communicating investment strategies internally and externally with the goal of growing assets under management in our regional private debt funds.
- Contribute to scheduled and ad-hoc updates on all aspects of the Private Credit market including investment performance, market levels etc.
- Stay abreast of market developments and competitor intelligence.
- Contribute to preparation of, and some participation in, meetings with current and prospective clients.
- Collaborate with various teams internally to contribute to client proposals (RFPs) and due-diligence questionnaires (DDQs) to support the winning of new business and retaining existing clients.
- Responding in a timely manner to client and prospect requests.
- Attending investment team meetings where required to build subject matter expertise across the various investment strategies.
- Participate in and coordinate product development initiatives in conjunction with the Product Development team for the Private Credit Business at Barings.
- Oversee the creation of all marketing material including fact sheets and pitch books for Barings’ regional fund offerings.
- Contribute to and review reporting materials for existing clients and respond to client reporting inquiries on a timely basis.
- Contribute to Thought Leadership materials, in cooperation with investment staff and Barings Marketing staff.
- University degree required and a degree in Finance, Economics or related field preferred.
- 1 -3 years of professional experience is desirable.
- Strong and extensive experience in either an investment management or investment specialist role, preferably within the Alternative/Private asset industry. Private debt experience a plus.
- A passion for financial markets and a strong proficiency with general Fixed Income and Credit topics.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- An analytical approach and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple time-sensitive tasks and perform effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to meet all deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel required, including experience using MS Office software to produce high quality presentations.
- Self-starter with strong drive and motivation to succeed and demonstrable track record in doing so.
- Willingness to pursue CFA designation desired.
