Barings is seeking a summer intern to join their Portfolio Finance team. This 9-week programme offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and insight into the financial industry. Outstanding performers will be considered for a position in our Analyst Program upon graduation.
This highly collaborative team is motivated by a shared goal to find attractive investment opportunities for third-party clients while addressing the unique financing needs of our customers. The team is primarily focused on originating investment-grade, senior secured loans to asset managers and the investment vehicles that they manage across a range of asset classes, including private equity, private credit, and real estate debt.
Primary Responsibilities- Conducting market research.
- Performing financial modelling, valuation work, and risk assessments.
- Drafting investment memos and presentation materials.
- Engaging in ongoing portfolio monitoring, analysis, and valuation.
- Assisting with special ad-hoc projects and initiatives.
- Currently in penultimate year of university, on track for a 2.1 or higher degree completion date of Spring 2027.
- Preferred majors include Business, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Statistics, and other relevant fields.
- Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office applications and sourcing data from the internet and various publications.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to work as a member of a fast-paced, transaction-oriented team.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills who can prioritize work and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
