The Position
An opportunity has arisen within the European Funds Legal team at Barings for a paralegal to support Europe-based capital raising activities. The successful candidate will assist with the launch and ongoing maintenance of private and public funds, and provide support on related corporate and regulatory matters. This role offers exposure to complex fund structures and the chance to work closely with multiple stakeholders across the business.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate with fund administrators, company secretaries, directors and other external service providers during new product launches and fund onboarding.
- Run incorporation processes for new fund entities.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams including product management, operations, accounting, investor relations, tax and client onboarding to ensure smooth fund set-ups and investor closings.
- Review legal agreements and assist with drafting ancillary documentation where appropriate.
- Instruct external counsel on specific queries and manage timelines to ensure efficient delivery.
- Maintain accurate records and team trackers to support governance and compliance requirements.
- Serve as an internal resource for queries on Luxembourg and Irish fund structures, escalating complex issues where needed.
- Coordinate execution and notarisation of documents.
Qualifications/Soft Skills
- University degree or paralegal certificate required.
- Prior paralegal experience in a law firm or in-house legal team preferred; experience with investment funds or financial products is an advantage but not essential.
- Basic understanding of fund structures is helpful but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
- Superior organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams.
- Sound problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail under pressure.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to suggest and implement process improvements.
