Role Overview

The Home Affairs practice is looking for an experienced Senior Manager to strengthen the Government Commercial capability within Home Affairs, helping clients improve how they procure, contract, manage suppliers and deliver value.

What you will be doing

  • Lead government commercial transformation work for Home Affairs and wider public sector clients, improving procurement, contracting, supplier management and value delivery.
  • Design and improve commercial operating models, including governance, processes, decision rights, accountabilities, controls and ways of working.
  • Advise clients on commercial efficiency opportunities and identify where commercial functions, supplier arrangements or contracts can deliver better value for money.
  • Bring practical knowledge of government commercial regulations, procurement requirements, approval routes and governance into client delivery.
  • Embed commercial expertise in transformation, operating model, digital, data, technology and change programmes across broader Baringa teams.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior government stakeholders, including commercial directors, operational leaders, finance teams, policy teams and delivery partners.
  • Identify and shape new opportunities with Home Affairs and wider public sector clients, contributing to proposals, account development and the growth of Baringa’s government commercial capability.
  • Lead and develop consultants within multi‑disciplinary teams, providing direction, coaching and feedback while building Baringa’s internal commercial knowledge and methods.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Experience delivering commercial, procurement or supplier‑related transformation work in Home Affairs or a wider public sector environment.
  • Background in consulting, a government commercial function, or a combination of both, with real government commercial expertise.
  • Strong understanding of how government commercial functions operate, including procurement regulations, governance, approvals, controls and stakeholder dynamics.
  • Experience working in complex commercial environments, helping programmes to deliver transformation through procurement activity.
  • Experience designing, assessing or improving commercial operating models, including structures, roles, processes, decision‑making, capability and ways of working.
  • Experience identifying and delivering commercial efficiencies, value for money opportunities, supplier performance improvements or contract management improvements.
  • Experience working in complex, high‑value, multi‑stakeholder environments where commercial, operational, policy and delivery priorities must be balanced.
  • Exposure to Home Affairs or adjacent government areas such as policing, law enforcement, justice, defence, national security, the Home Office or central government.
  • Experience leading client workstreams or teams, producing high‑quality deliverables and translating commercial expertise into practical recommendations.
  • Established network and experience in business development, including shaping opportunities, contributing to proposals or developing client relationships.

Benefits

  • Generous annual leave policy: five weeks of annual leave, plus an additional two weeks after five years continuous service.
  • Flexible working: hybrid policy and flexibility around unpaid leave.
  • Corporate responsibility days: three paid days per year to support social and environmental causes.
  • Wellbeing fund: annual People Fund for wellbeing support.
  • Profit share scheme: all employees participate in the Baringa Group Profit Share Scheme.
