Overview of the Role
Our Energy Products Practice is looking for a Senior Platform Software Engineer to join the Data and Processing Platform team. The role involves building the foundations and shared capabilities that support Baringa’s growth and evolution, working closely with the Engineering Lead and cross‑functional teams.
What you will be doing
- Shape the design, implementation and ongoing support of a greenfield Data and Processing Platform and its software products.
- Engage with developers, energy system modellers, client‑facing experts and users across the business to build capabilities that enable more effective work.
- Drive engineering best practices, ensuring quality, reliability and observability are built into our products from inception.
- Design and implement robust CI/CD automation flows to continually improve the engineering experience.
- Take an active role in all stages of the team’s agile development approach, from refinement to delivery, supporting iterative improvement of processes.
Your Skills and Experience
- Passionate about building the ‘right’ solution to problems and understanding core challenges.
- Practical experience as a senior engineer in high‑performing teams, collaborating closely and taking pride in your work.
- Strong at solving complex problems and flexible with technology choices.
- Advanced working knowledge of a general programming language (e.g. Python, Java, C#, Typescript).
- Working knowledge of data management technologies (SQL, NoSQL, Databricks).
- Experience with modern software engineering tools (Git, CI/CD pipelines), cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and IaC (Terraform, Pulumi).
- Experience across the technology stack with frameworks (React/Angular/Vue/Blazor, FastAPI/Spring Boot/.NET).
- Experience building and supporting different architectural approaches, confident in justifying choices.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and understanding of their principles.
