What you will be doing:

  • Defining and securing multi-million-pound business cases and funding for new transport services or delivering new ways of working.
  • Co-designing blueprints and operating models that deliver changes such as rail reform.
  • Leading and delivering transformation programmes which deliver better passenger experience.
  • Optimising front- and back-office processes.
  • Building an AI, machine learning and analytics function to help solve complex data challenges.
  • Bringing and embedding industry best practice from experience in other sectors.
  • Creating commercial strategies and executing complex procurements.

Your Skills And Experience:

  • Direct experience working within the UK rail sector (e.g. DfT, DFTO, ORR, Network Rail, Train Operating Company, or rail-focused consultancy).
  • Understanding and interest in the future direction of the rail industry e.g. involvement in work to nationalise the railway or move towards Great British Railways.
  • Clear understanding of how the UK rail industry is structured (e.g. infrastructure manager, operators, DfT/GBR context, supply chain).
  • Experience working closely with rail operational, commercial, or central functions.
  • Experience supporting or delivering structured change programmes (e.g. operating model change, transformation, cost reduction, organisational redesign, performance improvement, digital/technology-enabled change).
  • Exposure to project or programme management disciplines (e.g. planning, RAID, governance, stakeholder reporting).
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and helping shape practical solutions.
