The Role
Barhale is one of three delivery partners within the Anglian Water Integrated Operational Solutions Alliance.
IOS is a medium complexity, capital maintenance and enhancement, Civil and MEICA, design and build delivery unit working across Water and Water Recycling to support the successful implementation of the Anglian Water AMP 8 business plan.
Technical drawings include pipeline layouts for water and wastewater treatment sites:
Pipe support details, pumping station amendments for new pumps & pipework. New treatment equipment for sites: Sand filters, screens, storm tanks and flow meter chambers.
Collaborate with the Senior CAD Technician, Design Engineers and Project Engineers to identify drawing requirements and identify the information required to produce the design.
Such as topographic surveys, site plans, electrical designs and design information from suppliers.
Designs must meet project objectives and be compliant with client, statutory and industry standards, regulations, and specifications.
Including safety, buildability & maintainability, and environmental best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Work together with Project Engineers to understand project design requirements and complete 3D scans of the working area onsite to capture all the design information that is required.
- With guidance from the Senior CAD Technician, follow complex instructions and diagrams to create or modify drawings.
Manage the drafting process: from conceptual, detailed and construction-ready stages of a technical design drawing.
- Produce plans, elevations, technical details and building layouts, including pipeline and instrumentation schedules and hazard warnings.
- Provide input to the pre-construction information, including risk assessments, so that it can be prepared and updated at appropriate intervals.
- Work with all members of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Participate in project reviews relating to design, progress, and construction to receive questions and challenges in a constructive manner
- Key Measures and Targets
- Successful design completion on time and within budget.
- Innovative designs using Anglian Water Standard Products or new technologies or products to protect the environment, e. g, re-use of existing assets or concrete alternatives.
- Completed designs that reduce the health, safety and construction risks to construction teams and operations through the Design Risk Assessment process developed with the Design Team.
- Ability to deliver high-quality drawing work while meeting tight deadlines and adapting quickly to shifting project priorities

Essential
- Experience in CAD design
- Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent
- A good foundation in engineering principles and proficiency in CAD software (Auto CAD 2D and 3D).
- Good working knowledge of CDM regulations
- Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail to create accurate and functional design
- Good communication skills, ability to collaborate with fellow IOS team members.
- Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to a conclusion
- Ability to manage and deliver a successful project with minimal guidance
- Desireable
- Professional qualification and membership with a relevant industry body or institution.
- Experience or familiarity with Reality Capture and Point Cloud Processing Software (Autodesk Recap, Leica Cyclone, etc.).
