The Role

To carry out tasks set by site supervisors and gangers to a high and safe standard. Must be willing to do labouring work along with slinger duties, ideally with shaft and tunnelling experience and a keen attitude to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and carry out job-set tasks
  • Ensure have been briefed and understand all relevant risk and method statements
  • Use the best and safest practices on all tasks carried out
  • Carry checks on any equipment that may be used
  • Ensure a safe, tidy place of work
  • Ensure the completion of work is on time
  • Implement best practice procedures
  • Maximise use of own working time
  • Ensure signed up for all permits and briefings before commencing any work
  • Communication with site management
  • Communicate with the site supervisor on any health and safety concerns
  • Feedback to site management with near miss/close call reporting
  • Ensure attendance at all site briefings, forums, and toolbox talks
