The Role

The Pipe Fitter/ Mains Layer is required to cover works within the Southern region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Water companies permit to work (PTW) System
  • Water main design drawings service drawings and job packs
  • PE pipes with their properties and characteristics
  • Measuring and calibrating water mains
  • Able to distinguish between existing pipe materials and joints
  • Contingency plans and their requirements
  • Temporary works design for pressure testing
  • Thrust block requirements and design
  • Discharge licenses including flow rates
  • 3-stage DENSO process for buried flanged joints
  • Correct choice of pipe-cutting equipment
  • Reinstate of valves, hydrants, and other water network equipment
  • The Importance of bolt torque and recording documentation

About you

Essential

  • EUSR joint Material by butt fusion processes (EUSMUNC11)
  • EUSR joint material by ELECTROFUSION processes (EUSMUN10)
  • Flanged installation training (Control Point)
  • Pipeline commissioning (Including pressure testing and Chlorination/Dechlorination)
  • Training in pipe cutting equipment - Powergrit Saw, Keel Cutter, Cold Cutter, Clam Shell (Spit Cutter)

Desirable

  • EUSR National Water Hygiene Card (Blue Card)
  • EUSR Utility SHEA (Water) Network process and sewerage network
  • Training in use of Prodrill 20 + 26 to drill water mains
  • Confined spaces (CP1)
  • Asbestos awareness
  • Willing to travel and have a driving licence
