The People Management Trainer builds strong people management capability throughout the Company. The role focuses on equipping managers with the skills and confidence to manage performance, conduct disciplinaries, handle employee relations and absence management. The trainer will develop and deliver a structured people management training framework aligned with the company values and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a structured people management training framework aligned with company values and operational needs.
  • Identify capability gaps in line management across the Company.
  • Embed consistent management behaviour, competencies and standards through training aligned with policies and procedures.
  • Design and deliver training modules on managing underperformance, improvement plans, absence management, employee relations, fairness, legal compliance, investigations, disciplinary and grievance.
  • Coach managers on conducting sensitive ER cases, facilitating difficult conversations, giving constructive feedback and conflict resolution.
  • Deliver practical, scenario‑based training relevant to construction.
  • Build strong working relationships with managers across the company.
  • Provide visible HR support across multiple sites, including travel and working away from home as required.
  • Act as a trusted operational advisor, balancing business needs with people risk.
  • Build and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships with colleagues and clients.

Qualifications

  • CIPD qualification (Level 5) or equivalent.
  • Management or coaching qualification.
  • Proven experience in a senior HR operational role.
  • Strong people management experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations.
  • Experience operating in a multi‑site or operational environment.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge appropriately.
  • Driving licence.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar role within construction or civil engineering.
