Responsible for the overall delivery of the NOS08 bridge replacement project, reporting to the Site Agent and managing a team of engineers. Must liaise with the Client Construction Manager, London Borough of Newham and other stakeholders to secure approvals and ensure compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Management
- Ensure the safe delivery of the project.
- Deliver work to specified quality without defects and complete assurance documentation timely.
- Understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Provide engineering expertise and support to the project team.
- Mentor a team of engineers to deliver safely, quality and environmentally responsibly.
- Produce and implement RAMS and ITPs; manage the Waste Management Plan.
- Engage in collaborative planning sessions and produce 6/8-week look-aheads.
- Ensure all staff, subcontractors and visitors are properly inducted, meet required competencies and hold relevant qualifications and tickets.
- Represent the business to customers, the public and official bodies.
- Chair site meetings as required.
- Obtain accurate and relevant 'as-built' information.
- Health, Safety, Environment and Quality
- Comply with company procedures and legal obligations, promoting best practice.
- Promote Barhale cardinal rules and establish safe working cultures and environmental compliance.
- Maintain and manage construction sites and subcontractors, developing positive working relationships.
- Oversee HSEQ documentation, ensuring it is up to date and briefed.
- Conduct daily, weekly and monthly inspections, and produce audits and reports.
- Liaise with relevant third parties and government agencies.
- Produce and maintain the QA file.
- Deliver snag/defect-free work on time.
- Managing Resources
- Produce procurement schedules and liaise with the procurement department.
- Carry out take-offs and raise material orders when needed.
- Coordinate with the Construction Manager and Foreman to ensure adequate personnel and plant resources.
- Prepare and issue daily allocation sheets and diaries.
Qualifications
- Experience within civil engineering and as a Site Agent delivering projects in a highly regulated environment.
- Knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme, Risk Management and cost control, including forecasting and value reporting.
- Good knowledge of specifications and testing regimes relevant to general civil engineering, including MCHW, DMRB and Thames Water asset standards.
- Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
- CSCS and SMSTS certificates.
- Excellent communication, people and team management skills.
- Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Ability to demonstrate the right behaviours and lead the team in line with company values.
- Ability to develop and maintain a programme.
- Experience working in a high-risk environment and controlling those risks to safely deliver the works.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
