The People Management Trainer is responsible for building strong people management capability throughout the Company. This role will focus on equipping managers with people management responsibilities with the skills and confidence to effectively manage performance, conduct disciplinaries and handle employee relations issues, including absence management.

In this role, you will develop a structured people management training framework aligned with the company values and operational needs. You will identify capability gaps in line management throughout the company and embed consistent management behaviour, competencies and standards throughout by aligning training with policies and procedures. You will design and deliver training on managing underperformance, improvement plans, absence management, employee relations, investigations, disciplinary and grievance. You will coach managers on handling sensitive ER cases, conduct difficult conversations, give constructive feedback and manage conflict. You will deliver practical, scenario-based training relevant to construction, build strong working relationships across the company, provide visible HR support across multiple sites, act as a trusted operational advisor balancing business needs with people risk, and maintain excellent key stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a structured people management training framework aligned with the company values and operational needs
  • Identify capability gaps in line management throughout the Company
  • Embed consistent management behaviour, competencies and standards throughout the Company by aligning people management training with policies and procedures
  • Designing and delivering training on managing underperformance and improvement plans, absence management
  • Employee relations with an emphasis on fairness and legal compliance, including investigations, disciplinary and grievance
  • Coach managers on handling sensitive ER cases confidently and appropriately by equipping supervisors and site managers with tools for conducting difficult conversations, giving constructive feedback and handling conflict
  • Deliver practical and scenario-based training that is relevant to construction
  • Build strong working relationships with managers across the company
  • Provide visible HR support across multiple sites, including travel and working away from home when required
  • Act as a trusted operational advisor, balancing business needs with people risk
  • Build and maintain excellent key stakeholder relationships with colleagues and clients

Essential

  • CIPD qualification (Level 5)
  • Management or coaching qualification
  • Proven experience in a senior HR operational role
  • Strong people management experience
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations
  • Experience operating in a multi-site or operational environment
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge appropriately
  • Driving licence

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar role within construction / civil engineering
