The Role

We’re the @one Alliance – a ground‑breaking collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry‑leading partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO. Together, we deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme. As we ramp up into AMP8, our most ambitious period yet, we’ll be delivering an even broader range of innovative and environmentally‑driven infrastructure projects – from urban drainage to nature‑based solutions like constructed wetlands. The Business Unit Senior Quality Manager plays a vital role in assuring the quality of work undertaken across the @one Alliance, from project inception to asset delivery and handover. The role is key to assuring consistent quality of work, delivering a right‑first‑time approach of the delivery of all aspects of @One alliance & AW capital delivery programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading business unit quality assurance across sites, managing Quality Managers, Senior Quality Engineers and QA/QC Engineers.
  • Establishing and maintaining a robust inspection cadence, ensuring early issue identification, backlog reduction and consistent handover readiness.
  • Driving a right‑first‑time approach by identifying defects, leading corrective actions and preventing recurrence across the delivery programme.
  • Overseeing ITPs, witness testing and lifecycle quality assurance through construction, commissioning and asset handover.
  • Providing clear, data‑driven insight through reports and dashboards, highlighting trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Translating quality performance into commercial impact, linking defects and rework to cost, programme and productivity.
  • Building strong relationships with project teams, SHEA, commissioning and supply chain partners to align expectations and priorities.
  • Championing digital and standardised quality approaches to improve consistency, efficiency and accuracy.
  • Creating a high‑performance, inclusive culture through visible leadership, coaching and continuous improvement.

About you

Essential

  • Significant experience leading quality assurance in complex construction or infrastructure environments, ideally within utilities or water.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, auditing and standards such as ISO 9001.
  • A confident, values‑led leadership style with the ability to challenge constructively and influence at all levels.
  • Proven ability to use data and insight to drive better outcomes, reduce rework and protect delivery milestones.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the credibility to build trust across project teams, partners and stakeholders.
