Are you looking for a progressive opportunity to take your career to the next level? If so, we have an exciting and rare opportunity to join our busy Farming Team. As our new Sweetcorn Growing Manager, you will assume responsibility for our dedicated sweetcorn crop - situated on prime farm land across rural Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Reporting directly to the Farms Director, candidates will need to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, together with the confidence of liaising at all levels both internally and externally.

The Sweetcorn Growing Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production & operations, ensuring efficient and effective cultivation practices to maximize yields, while maintaining our high-quality standards. You will be responsible for planning, organising, and co‐ordinating activities related to planting, growing, harvesting and processing.

Confident & highly organised, our new Sweetcorn Growing Manager will play a pivotal role in the planning and programming of crops, as well as co‐ordinating and planning daily operations.

Key responsibilities:
  • Preparing crop blueprints
  • Weekly crop forecasts
  • Field walking & crop agronomy
  • Drilling & planting trials
  • Planning daily operations & programming crops
  • Organising procurement of seeds & plants
  • Create and monitor irrigation plans
  • Labour allocation and review
  • Creating and implementing appropriate machinery plans
  • Managing field margins and environmental schemes
  • Maintaining all related financial records
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Educated to degree level or the industry related qualification
  • Previous experience of working in a UK based, agricultural environment - placement years will be considered
  • Highly organised and computer literate in all MS office programmes
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload
  • BASIS & FACTS qualifications would be an advantage - but not essential
  • Full Driving Licence
