A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Despatch Operative to join our busy warehousing operations. Applications are invited from enthusiastic individuals, capable of working in a fast‑paced, dynamic warehouse environment. Working as a key member of the team, you will ensure all warehousing operational tasks are completed and delivered in an accurate, efficient, timely and safe manner, providing internal and external customers with a consistent first‑class service.
Utilising PPT for the loading of haulier vehicles, and transferring produce to and from various warehouse locations. As a shift‑based position, please note that the working environment is temperature controlled, to ensure the longevity and quality of our fresh‑food products. Also, as part of the picking and packing process, there may also be an element of heavy lifting involved. Shift 4 days on – 4 days off, 1 pm – 1 am.
Responsibilities- Ensure all orders are selected accurately, timely and stacked securely prior to loading onto haulier vehicles.
- Picking & Packing – ensure all orders are selected efficiently and accurately using a hand‑held scanner.
- Loading haulier vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
- Utilising MHE for manoeuvring stock between locations.
- Adherence to all trained SOPs and Risk Assessments.
- Focus on internal and external customer satisfaction with zero errors.
- Operate “clean as you go” principles whilst carrying out duties.
- Maintain high standards of Health and Safety in all operating areas.
- Report hazards and accidents as appropriate.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal (English Level 2 desirable).
- Counter‑balance forklift licence/experience is a distinct advantage but NOT essential.
- Demonstrable experience of successfully working in a targeted environment and motivating self to meet targets.
- Experience of working in a FMCG / Fresh food environment.
- Preference for CIEH Manual Handling Level 2.
- Preference for CIEH Food Safety Level 2.
- Flexibility and willingness to work across all Barfoots sites.
- Basic PC literacy for data input & email.
