The Role
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced IT Infrastructure professional to join our dynamic IT team in a role that combines operational support with infrastructure improvement projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a modern Microsoft-based infrastructure, with a particular focus on Windows Server, VMware virtualisation, enterprise networking, and Microsoft cloud technologies.
Reporting to the Head of IT, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, optimising, and evolving our core infrastructure.
You'll be responsible for supporting our Windows Server estate, VMware virtual environment, Microsoft 365 platform, Microsoft Entra, Intune, networking, and cyber security technologies.
Alongside day-to-day operational support, you'll contribute to strategic infrastructure projects, helping modernise our IT services and improve resilience, performance, and security across the organisation.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across the full Microsoft infrastructure stack, solving complex technical challenges, and delivering projects that make a measurable impact.
You'll collaborate with colleagues across the business while developing your expertise in server infrastructure, virtualisation, cloud services, networking, and enterprise security.
Requirements
- What You'll Be Doing
- Administer and maintain Windows Server infrastructure, VMware virtualisation, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID and Intune
- Support core IT infrastructure including servers, storage, networking, firewalls, backup platforms and cloud services
- Monitor infrastructure proactively to maximise availability, performance and resilience
- Deliver infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, technology refreshes and service improvements
- Design, implement and support LAN, WAN, wireless and secure remote access solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and technical support issues
- Apply cyber security best practices across identity, endpoints, patching, access control and endpoint protection
- Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve systems, performance and user experience
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards and support procedures
- Participate in an on-call rota supporting critical business systems (approximately one week in five)
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years' experience in an Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Administrator or senior technical support role
- Strong experience with Windows Server, VMware, Microsoft 365 and enterprise networking
- Proven knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy and Microsoft Entra ID
- Experience managing Microsoft Intune and modern Windows endpoint management
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills
- A proactive mindset with a passion for infrastructure improvement and automation
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A customer-focused approach with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Technical Experience
- Windows Server 2019/2022, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP
- VMware v Sphere/ESXi administration
- Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Share Point Online and Teams
- Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA and identity management
- Microsoft Intune, Autopilot and Windows endpoint management
- Cisco networking, VLANs, TCP/IP, wireless networking and network troubleshooting
- Firewall administration and secure remote access (Forti Gate preferred)
- Backup, disaster recovery, patch management and infrastructure monitoring
- Power Shell or other scripting technologies
- Nice to Have
- Microsoft, VMware or Cisco certifications
- Experience delivering infrastructure refreshes, cloud migrations or digital transformation projects
- Knowledge of ITIL and experience supporting ERP, telephony or other business-critical systems
