  • Contributing to the design, implementation, and support of network solutions across LAN, WAN, wireless, and secure remote access
  • Supporting and delivering IT projects, upgrades, migrations, and service improvements alongside day-to-day operations
  • Applying security best practices across identity, devices, patching, access control, and endpoint protection
  • Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes, automation, and user experience
  • Creating and maintaining clear technical documentation, support procedures, and user guides
  • Providing user training and guidance to improve adoption of business systems and digital tools
  • Taking part in an on-call rota to support critical incidents (approx. 1 week in 5)

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years’ experience in an infrastructure, systems administration technical support role
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies, networking, endpoint management, and security-focused administration
  • Experience supporting or administering Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra, and Intune in a business environment
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a genuine interest in continuous improvement and modernisation
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • A strong customer-focused approach and commitment to delivering a high-quality, reliable IT service
  • Ability to manage priorities effectively and work calmly in a fast-paced environment

Technical Experience

You’ll have solid experience in several of the following:

  • Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online and core collaboration services

How to prepare for a job interview at Barfoots of Botley Ltd

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
