About the role Title – Control Room Operator Pay Rate – £13.31 Location – Ipswich Shift Timings – Full Time, Variable Hours This position will be based at an Operations Control Room in Ipswich, working one of several shift patterns (approx 56 hours per week): Option 1 · 4 Days 4 Off and 4 Nights · 12-hour shifts – 56 hours a week Option 2 · 4 Days 2 Off and 4 Nights · 12-hour shifts – 42 hours a week Our structured shift patterns provide regular planned time away from work, offering a predictable rota and improved work-life balance compared with traditional working weeks. As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Coordinate and manage responses to incidents, emergencies, and alarm activations. Act as the central point of contact for all operational and security-related matters during your shift. Maintain regular communication with mobile response officers, site teams, and clients. Record incidents, operational activity, and shift updates accurately within control room systems. Provide timely updates and reports to clients regarding site activities and incident responses. Monitor operations and ensure compliance with company procedures, policies, and industry standards. Support the efficient running of the control room to maintain the highest levels of service delivery. The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria: Must have the Right to Work in the UK and ability to pass BS7858 vetting. Strong communication and organisational skills. Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure. Good IT skills and confidence using computer-based systems. Ability to accurately record information and maintain detailed records. Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. Desirable: Valid SIA Licence CCTV Previous experience within a control room, operations, customer service, contact centre, dispatch, monitoring or security environment. Experience coordinating people, resources or incident responses. Experience using security, monitoring, scheduling or workforce management software.
