About the role
Pay Rate – £12.70
Location – Darlington
Shift Timings – Full time, Must be fully flexible and able to work weekends, Days and nights
To provide a professional, vigilant, and effective security service across the site, ensuring the safety of people, property, vehicles, stock, and premises. The role is responsible for gatehouse operations, warehouse security duties, CCTV monitoring, access control, vehicle and person searches, patrols, and supporting site management with operational and ad hoc requests across both day and night shifts.

Your main responsibilities may include:
- Gatehouse Duties
- Book in suppliers and couriers accurately and efficiently.
- Communicate with Goods In and other departments via internal radio.
- Book in visitors and contractors in line with site procedures.
- Ensure contractors and visitors complete the ASW induction process before being granted access.
- Manage the booking in and out of store deliveries, ensuring vehicles carry the correct stock and documentation where required.
- Secure ASW vehicles in accordance with site security procedures.
- Conduct random searches using the approved randomiser system.
- Carry out vehicle searches in line with site policy and assignment instructions.
- Monitor CCTV systems and report any suspicious activity, incidents, or breaches.
- Liaise professionally with ASW management, including responding to ad hoc operational requests.
- Liaise with management of third-party companies attending or operating on site.
- Liaise with on-site maintenance teams as required.
- Warehouse Duties
- Conduct random searches within the warehouse in line with site procedures.
- Carry out end-of-shift and break-time searches as required.
- Undertake internal and external patrols to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Complete stock checks and remain alert to grazing, theft, damage, or other stock-related concerns.
- Respond to requests for escorting employees or visitors off site when required.
- Carry out Health and Safety checks within the warehouse and report hazards, defects, or unsafe practices.
- Night Shift Duties
- Carry out all gatehouse and warehouse security duties during night operations.
- Monitor site activity closely during out-of-hours periods.
- Maintain heightened vigilance for unauthorised access, suspicious behaviour, and security breaches.
- Support the site with any night-time incidents, emergency responses, or ad hoc management requests.
- General Responsibilities
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism, appearance, and conduct at all times.
- Follow all assignment instructions, site policies, and company procedures.
- Accurately complete all required records, logs, and incident reports.
- Report all incidents, accidents, breaches, and concerns promptly to management.
- Support emergency procedures, evacuations, and incident response when required.
- Work collaboratively with site teams, contractors, visitors, and colleagues to maintain a secure and safe operation.
- Ensure all duties are carried out in compliance with Health & Safety requirements, company policy, and legal obligations.
- SIA License.
- 5-year checkable work/career history.
- Experience in a similar role, would be an advantage.
- Physically fit to undertake given tasks.
- Possess the ability to work under pressure.
- Previous experience in a security role, ideally within a warehouse, distribution, logistics, or gatehouse environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and alert in a busy operational environment.
- Experience in access control, search procedures, patrols, and CCTV monitoring.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with clients, contractors, and third-party providers.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and site security procedures.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative when dealing with incidents or requests.
- Maintain effective control of all access and egress points.
- Ensure all searches, patrols, and checks are carried out in accordance with site procedures.
- Protect site assets, vehicles, stock, employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Provide a visible and responsive security presence across the site.
- Deliver excellent service to the client while maintaining compliance and professionalism at all times.
