Bardic Construction Ltd is an established and growing construction company based in Swansea, delivering civil engineering, groundworks, surfacing, maintenance and building projects across South Wales and beyond. Our clients include major infrastructure operators, industrial facilities, commercial organisations and public sector bodies. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator who is also capable of managing projects from award through to completion.

This is a varied position combining estimating, commercial management and project delivery. The successful candidate will be involved from initial enquiry through to final account, taking ownership of projects and ensuring they are delivered safely, profitably and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimating & Tendering
    • Reviewing tender documentation and specifications
    • Conducting site visits and surveys
    • Producing accurate estimates and cost plans
    • Obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotations
    • Preparing tender submissions and pricing schedules
    • Identifying project risks and opportunities
  • Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management
    • Cost control and budget management
    • Valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
    • Managing project variations and change control
    • Procurement of materials and subcontractors
    • Monitoring project profitability and cash flow
    • Assisting with contractual matters and negotiations
  • Project Management
    • Planning and coordinating project delivery
    • Managing site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
    • Liaising directly with clients and stakeholders
    • Monitoring programme, quality and safety performance
    • Attending site meetings and progress reviews
    • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget

Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, Project Manager
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering, groundworks, surfacing or general construction projects
  • Commercial awareness and cost management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • Experience with NEC and JCT contracts
  • Experience working on infrastructure, utilities or industrial projects
  • Knowledge of street works and civil engineering projects
