About the Role
Work under the instruction and guidance of teaching and senior staff to undertake support programmes, enabling access to learning and assisting with classroom management. Work may take place in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.
Responsibilities
- Provide both classroom support for all pupils and targeted 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and classroom activities.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils, including those with SEND.
- Help pupils to access the curriculum and remain engaged in learning.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence and confidence.
- Assist with the development of pupils’ social, emotional and communication skills.
- Supervise pupils during classroom activities, break times, trips or interventions when required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and SENDCO.
- Assist with classroom preparation, displays and learning resources.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and school policies at all times.
- Implement strategies and support plans outlined in EHCPs or individual learning plans.
- Encourage communication, emotional regulation and social interaction.
