The System Engineer develops software that runs either on our Linux-based Jenkins master/slaves or on PC platforms. You are responsible for creating high-quality SW deliverables in a timely manner, according to the state-of-the-art software methodologies and as part of the global solution software architecture. The system engineer solves problems discovered resulting from testing due to in-depth understanding of the full system and its components and in-depth analysis. You will work in a medical device environment, with processes that apply to comply with regulatory standards. You will be confronted with a large range of technologies, development languages, network elements, hardware components, etc.

  • Have a full understanding of the Nexxis system and its components to ensure correct integration in the operating room.
  • Support the release process of the Nexxis SW and its components.
  • Develop the Test Strategy for complex systems.
  • Develop Python system tests: proficiently create and maintain comprehensive Python-based test suites to evaluate system functionality and performance.
  • Analyze, collaborate, and drive towards closure of escalated field issues within R&D.
  • Conduct thorough bug analysis: investigate and diagnose system anomalies and faults, identifying root causes for continuous improvement.
  • Generate detailed and precise test reports conveying findings, outcomes, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional development teams to dissect issues and facilitate joint problem-solving.
  • Produce meticulous medical-grade test documentation in compliance with standards, contributing to regulation-adherent reports.

We are looking for a Barco employee who:

  • Possesses a Master\’s or Bachelor\’s degree or equivalent experience in software development.
  • Is familiar with the complete test development lifecycle of products and solutions.
  • Is attracted by system complexity and eager to improve system quality.
  • Possesses analytical skills, attention to detail, and a focus on quality.
  • Is fully conversational in English, takes initiative, communicates well with other teams, and is a fast learner.

Must have:

  • Proficiency in Python and Git.
  • Basic knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, and Groovy.
  • Basic understanding of video and audio technology (RAW video, Transcoding, 3D, analog audio).
  • Experience with Jenkins, Linux, Windows, Pytest framework, and SQL databases.
  • Hands-on mentality and willingness to perform manual testing.
  • Ability to decompose complex processes into understandable components.
  • Proficiency in automating and optimizing processes.

Nice to have:

  • C++, Java/Kotlin, Embedded programming, Selenium, Buildroot.
