The role goes beyond daily reporting. The successful candidate will be expected to provide clear insight, constructive challenge and practical direction in a fast-moving trading environment. As one of the more experienced members of the team, you will also play an important part in setting standards, improving processes and supporting the development of others. The role works closely with Trading, Commercial, Finance and Technology teams to ensure risk and P&L are accurately, transparently and consistently reported.

Key Responsibilities
  • Producing daily position reports that clearly summarise market risk exposures arising from trading and hedging activity.
  • Producing daily mark-to-market P&L reports, including clear, justified and commercially relevant commentary.
  • Validating market data and price markers used in daily P&L reporting.
  • Ensuring reporting methodologies are robust, transparent and commercially meaningful.
  • Identifying gaps in existing reporting and using initiative to develop improved tools and processes.
  • Working closely with Finance to support reconciliation between middle-office P&L and monthly accounts.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of systems and reporting improvements.
  • Acting as a point of reference within the team and supporting the development of junior colleagues.
  • Promoting a strong control environment and ensuring trading activity is subject to appropriate oversight and challenge.
  • Supporting ad hoc projects and wider risk initiatives as required.
Skills and Experience

The successful candidate is likely to bring:

  • Significant market risk experience gained within physical oil, refined products, energy or a closely related commodity trading environment.
  • Strong understanding of trading, hedging, position reporting and mark-to-market P&L.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis capability.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and build credibility across Trading, Finance and Commercial teams.
  • Experience acting as a senior analyst, mentor or point of reference within a market risk team.
  • A self-starting approach, with a clear continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong control focus and the confidence to challenge business stakeholders where appropriate.
Desirable Experience
  • Demonstrable experience in PRODUCT CONTROL or MARKET RISK
  • Proven commodities experience - any physical products
Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a successful and growing commodities trading business in a senior market risk role with strong visibility across the front office and wider control functions.
